February 8, 2012: Key Concepts in Diversity and Inclusion
The program was created by SHRM to provide an overview of some important key concepts that guide Diversity and Inclusion work. These include SHRM’s definition of diversity, different approaches around the globe, the meaning of culture and cultural competence and discussion surrounding discrimination and biases. Lastly, the presentation covers the concept of unconscious biases and how to “unlock” them so that they do not color our thinking as we interact with diverse groups of people. This program will help set the stage for HR practitioners as they navigate the complexities of a diverse workforce, while actively playing a critical role in the integration of diversity and inclusion into their organizations.
March 7, 2012: Federal and Wisconsin FMLA
The Family and Medical Leave Act is one of the most complicated and challenging laws for many employers to administer. This program will go cover the coordination of federal and Wisconsin FMLA, military leave (qualified exigency and caregiver), notice requirements, and medical certification/recertification (forms, authentication, and clarification). The addition of domestic partner to the Wisconsin FMLA will also be discussed. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions regarding FMLA.
May 9, 2012: The Generations
Are you a Baby Boomer, Generation Xer, or Echo Boomer? What differences do we have based on the year you were born? Generational differences can cause unique challenges within an organization. The Generations will offer powerful insights into who today’s generation are, what defines them, what motivates them and how to work with them. Plan to join us for this unique opportunity to network, learn, explore, discuss and debate generational issues in the workplace.
